A bit about me.....
Hello and welcome to my website!
Let me tell you a little bit about myself, my name is Clare Insall and have lived in Norfolk most of my life. I grew up in Norwich and now live in a beautiful and peaceful village in West Norfolk.
I have worked in the Travel Industry for over 30 years and it is only recently I discovered my passion for painting. Having not picked up a pencil or paint brush since school it was all a bit daunting to put paint to paper, however I was fortunate enough to have a talented artist as a father and naturally he always encouraged me to paint alongside him.
So, in 2018 I dusted off my paints & brushes and started painting, and now I can’t stop!
Being mainly self-taught the whole process was a bit nerve-racking to begin with. But gradually it was not just family asking me to paint for them, it was friends as well, and then it successfully grew to friends-of-friends wanting commissions! For the first time in 2019 I was even brave enough to successfully exhibit my work, alongside some of my artist friends in Norwich.
A lot of my artwork is inspired by my surroundings, and I find myself spending a lot of time painting townscapes and coastal villages. There is something I love about the combination of man-made construction which sits hand-in-hand with the natural beauty of the countryside. The intriguing perspective of the buildings, with their dynamic light & shadow, can make for a stunning picture.
I get a lot of requests for commissions of pet portraits, which can make for lovely Birthday or Christmas gifts. You can see examples of a number of these on my site, and it’s always very satisfying when I can create a portrait of a very special pet for a special occasion.
I paint mainly commissions, whether a favourite house, town scene, pet portrait, memory
of a special holiday or whatever comes to mind…. Just get in touch via my contact page, I would love to hear from you.
Clare.
